after a shooting in menlo park. they received several reports of gunfire from a home on madera avenue. they found four people in their teens and 20s and two high capacity assault rifle, a semi- automatic, and ten ounces of marijuana. they believe they are part of a criminal street gang. >>> coming up at 6:00, the latest incident, the growing gang problem for menlo park. police are blaming a certain group with an infamous name. >>> policing investigating a body found in a trash can. they found an unconscious man in a trash can outside a home on 10th street. he died in the hospital. neighbors paid their respects. the coroner identified the victim as joshua perez of union city. perez had stayed at the home on 10th street from time to time. >> my brother, he was the most kind hearted person. he loved everybody. i just want to know why was he put in a trash can? >> investigators are trying to figure out how the young man died. an autopsy is expected in the coming days. >>> a driver who lost control of his suv before it plunged over an overpass in the east bay is now facing dui charges. th
coming up. carolyn. >> thank you, lisa. >> developing news on a deadly shooting in a menlo park neighborhood. homicide detectives have been working all night k into the morning on ivy drive where a man was shot to death last night. abc7 news reporter kera clapper is live at police headquarters. she has the latest. good morning. >> good morning, carolyn. >> the latest this morning is more than twelve hours after two men shot and killed another man in his car, police are still looking for those two men. we have the scene last evening on ivy, as you mentioned. 911 calls poured in about 6:30 in the evening. people living near 101 and 84 reported hearing several gunshots another call came in that someone was lying in the street. when menlo park police arrived to the 300 block of ivy drive they found an injured man lying in the middle of the road. the 40-year-old was shot numerous times. paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. police say he's not from menlo park or the other areas but they aren't releasing any other information about him. shooters were last seen running away in o

'm kristen sze. gunfire shocks people out of their sleep in a menlo park neighborhood early this morning. . >> amy hollyfield joins us with more on the developing story. >> reporter: i just spoke with the police chief he says his officers can't believe the artillery they found in the home. there were automatic weapons in there, one had a clip that would hold 100 rounds it was loaded. what they had far out-powers what the police have. they got the call 4:30 this morning to go to the neighborhood. police found four people inside the home. they also found marijuana, guns and a lot of ammunition. they arrested four people and say two are confirmed members of the taliban gang here menlo park. there's a shooting in that neighborhood a week ago which also involved the taliban gang. police say they a gang problem in the bell haven neighborhood. >> we put extra bike patrols out, we are going to be putting extra foot patrols in the area. we have to see what happens next. we are taking it very serious. >> reporter: police held a town hall meeting about this issue. they had a good turnout, people ar

and menlo park. east palo alto, menlo park, and palo alto police department have partnered to implement a multi agency violence reduction plan called operation smart. smart goals is to stop the escalating violence between the street gangs caliban and davill. authorities say they have been feuding for decades but does not know the reason for the recent violence. both police chief agree that they want to send a clear message to members that this needs to stop. >> the family of a nine year-old girl killed by a drunken motorcyclist has reached a $675,000 settlement with the city of novato. this is the video the crime scene back in 2009. melody osheroff and her father were struck by edward shea first motorcycle. melody father had to have one of his leg amputated. schaefer was convicted on charges of murder in vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. he later died in san quentin state prison, where he was serving his sentence. the family sued the city of novato, claiming the city had not properly maintained a road or the sidewalk. >> a 50 year-old accused of killing a man and injuring a poli
